Sources told Early Times that the patients arrived in the hospital on Thursday evening, however were referred to LD Hospital despite their resentment as there was no bed available. "All of them resisted but the doctors present there referred them to LD Hospital as no beds were available in the hospital to accommodate these patients," a hospital employee pleading anonymity said. He said that all the four patients were bundled in a single ambulance which shocked the onlookers. Driver of Ambulance bearing registration number Ch 3763, confirmed that three expecting mothers and a child was bundled in his vehicle. "We don't have bedding capacity which increase referral rate in the hospital," Chief Medical Officer Anantnag Dr Fazil Kochak on being contacted said. Dr Majid Mehrab who holds the additional charge of M&CH has gone on leave, CMO confirmed. Reportedly, some political leaders in the district are exerting pressure on Dr Mehrab and are forcing him to accommodate their blue-eyed on hospital development fund as temporary employees. "He isn't in a position to handle both the hospitals government must think about it," a senior health official said, adding hospital lacking space due to which patients are facing immense problems. "In post operative ward we have to take extra care. We can only accommodate seven or eight patients in it keeping in mind the space but right now we are accommodating double of them and putting lives of patients at risk," he added. MoS Health, Aasiya Naqash when contacted admitted that hospital is in mess. "During visit I give some on spot directions to officials accompanying me which you pointed out but now don't know are they fallowing or not. I will again visit the hospital to access the situation," she said. She said that after her visit she submitted a complete report to Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed. "Believe me I submitted a detailed report to Chief Minister but also told that all is not well in M&CH Anantnag after that Chief Minister himself visited the hospital so I am sure in next week some concrete steps will be taken to streamline the system," she added. Aasiya admitted that health department is not working up to people's expectations. "We can't change the system overnight. I agree that department is not working like it should be. As far as bundling of patients in a single ambulance is concerned I will initiate action against the guilty," she said.
