Congress dissidents take U- turn, start avoiding Charak
7/25/2015 12:29:14 AM
Early Times Report

Jammu, July 24: Suspended former minister and CWC member Gulchain Singh Charak's direct attack on Rahul Gandhi as well as Ghulam Nabi Azad has boomeranged and virtually set a cat within the third front as his associate dissidents have too started avoiding him.
This was evident from the scheduled meeting of the third front here today, which was skipped by all the dissidents, except Charak, R S Chib and Th Hari Singh. Without taking Charak into confidence, the dissident leaders in the Third Front, who were instrumental in calling today's meeting at the Engineering Institute Gandhi Nagar, skipped the same to keep themselves safe. Even Prem Sagar Aziz and Abdul Gani Vakil, who along with Gulchain Singh Charak, were also suspended from primary membership of the party, did not attend the meeting.
According to the sources in Congress circles, Charak, Hari Singh and Chib kept waiting for the arrival of remaining members of the third front for more than an hour and thereafter left the venue accusing others of sabotaging the move. On the other hand, sources disclosed that the Third front leaders skipped the meeting to avoid similar disciplinary action against them by the party high command, particularly in the wake of Charak's direct attack on Rahul Gandhi.
It may be recalled that Gulchain Singh Charak on Monday had told media persons in a press conference that Rahul Gandhi had been promoting `yes men' culture in the Congress and the party was going to disintegrate because of disastrous policies of the Gandhi-Nehru scion. Charak had also accused Ghulam Nabi Azad of maintain a criminal silence and not helping genuine Congressmen like him, who were raising voice against all ills in the party.
Even as everything was okay in the Third Front and all the dissident leaders were contemplating to offer mass resignation in support of the trio suspended leaders, Charak's press conference reversed the things, sources explained and added that in fast changing developments, Ghulam Nabi Azad camp finally decided to maintain a distance from Charak. Rahul Gandhi may be wrong in his decisions but you can't criticize him publically while remaining in Congress or expect some support from Congress colleagues on the issue, explained a senior dissident leader in the Third Front.
Meanwhile, sources also informed that Prem Sagar Aziz is likely to tender an unconditional apology conveying the party high command that he was innocent and had done nothing like anti-party activity.
