Hotelier caught discharging sewage in Lidder; PDA, Police, Fisheries department reluctant to take action 12/18/2015 11:33:26 PM Saahil Suhail Early Times Report Anantnag, Dec 18: Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Pahalgam on Thursday seized at least one dozen pipes from Kolahoi Green Resorts Pahalgam being used by the Influential hotelier to discharge sewage of his hotel in river Lidder in blatant violations of law. According to official reports, SDM Pahalgam Nisar Ahmad Nissar paid a surprise visit at hotel after receiving complaints that the hotelier is directly discharging sewage of his hotel in river Lidder. During the surprise check, SDM found pipeline and directed police and PDA employees to remove the pipes. Photographs in possession of early Times show employees loading pipes in vehicle outside Kolahoi Green Resorts. Sources said that seized pipes have been kept at Tehsil Office Pahalgam and SDM is about to initiate action against the violator. However, Pahalgam Development Authority, Police and Fisheries department hasn't taken any action against the hotelier despite directions from SDM. An official in Pahalgam Development Authority (PDA) confirmed to Early Times that the no action has been taken against the hotelier as PDA-the main nodal agency of Pahalgam is awaiting directions from SDM. "Our employees were there. They excavated the pipeline but we haven't yet taken action as SDM is himself looking into it," official pleading anonymity said. Police official posted in Pahalgam too confirmed that SDM has seized pipes but said that police is yet take cognizance of the incident. "All we know is that our policemen accompanied SDM and seized the pipes but since then we haven't received any communication or direction from him," he said. Assistant Director Fisheries Anantnag who has allegedly given a free hand to his employees having nexus with mafia to extract boulders from precious Lidder at Yanner in violation of laws, didn't bother to attend repeats calls from Early Times while as his subordinates expressed ignorance about the incident. On being contacted, Adil Ahmad Khan, General Manger of Kolahoi Green Resorts Pahalgam said that SDM Pahalgam realized the facts after raid. "We have installed STF in hotel; the pipeline which they erected wasn't for discharging sewage but was to drain out a stream passing through the hotel premises," he said. He claimed that SDM Pahalgam will not initiate any action against the hotel now.
