Jammu, Apr 8: With the first phase of campaigning coming to an end, 48 hours ahead of the final day of polling on Thursday, April 10 the focus of the political parties have been shifted to door to door campaigning to woo the electorate. Candidates belonging to all three mainstream political parties locked in the close contest on Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat would be moving from door to door in a last minute bid to garner support of the voters. BJP and PDP candidate are both challenging the sitting Congress MP Madan Lal Sharma. To facilitate smooth polling the election commission has set up 2271 polling stations in Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat for the 17.63 lakh electorate. 1153 polling stations in Jammu, 246 in Samba, 373 in Poonch and 499 polling stations have been set up by the Election Commission. Divisional Commissioner Jammu Shantmanu, IG Jammu range Rajesh Kumar and senior officers of the Para military forces visited Poonch on Tuesday to take stock of the security arrangements. The highest number of 43 percent polling stations has been declared sensitive and hyper sensitive in the bordering district. Rajouris 34 percent polling stations have been declared sensitive and hyper sensitive by the election commission. |
