Srinagar, Apr 8: The Awami Ithihaad Party(AIP), headed by the MLA Engineer Rashid, was today attacked in the Bugam area of Kulgam, district allegedly by the workers of the CPI(M). Eyewitnesses told Early Times that the supporters of AIP were using public address system in vehicle to attract the attention of the voters. As the vehicle reached near Bugam area , scores of people present on road attacked it with stones."Our vehicle was damaged as the people pelted stones indiscriminately on our vehicle. They smashed the windowpanes and damaged the public address system," one of the workers of AIP said. The AIP candidate for South Kashmir Parliament seat Tanvir Hussain Khan while confirming the incident said that he was not part of that rally. "Some miscreants pelted stones on our election vehicle near Bugam," he said. AIP President Engineer Rashid blamed the supporters of the CPI(M) for the attack."The supporters of Tarigami are frustrated in the town as AIP has gained significant ground there. It was a political conspiracy and police has registered a case against the supporters of CPI(M)," he said.
