Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Apr 8: The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mehbooba Mufti today accused National Conference (NC) of pushing the state to the wall by rigging the 1987 elections. She was addressing election rallies in Devsar segment of Anantnag constituency today. "The NC turned Mohammad Yusuf into Salah-ud-Din," she said while responding to NC allegations that PDP had a truck with BJP, Jamiat-e-Islami and Hizbul Mujahideen. Mehbooba said NC had the worst performance of the past five and half years to its credit and cannot, therefore, save itself from the wrath of the people. "It (NC) has nothing to sell to the people," she added. Mehbooba said the NC probably was not happy with the boycott call of the separatists. "They want it implemented through violence," she said. Pertinently, Mahbooba had stated in 2008 that the boycott helps NC especially in Srinagar. Right from Shopian rape and murder case, 120 killings in 2010, Haji Yousuf's death, Afzal Guru's hanging, back door appointments, BOPEE, Drug scam, Cricket scam, Land grab scam, Retired officers re-employment scam speak about the cruelty of this regime they unleashed upon people, she said. She also accused NC of bartering state's resources for power. "Who in the right mind would hand over the most viable power projects to the Centre with huge losses to state and leaving the people in darkness? Who would continue to enjoy power with BJP even after the much hyped Autonomy resolution was thrown in the waste basket by New Delhi? Which leader of a state like J&K which is the only Muslim majority state in the country, continue to be a Minister even after Gujarat riots took place and did not vote in the Parliament for condemning the same?" Mehbooba said the PDP has come up with a positive agenda for this Parliament election, where the focus remains the welfare of people of the state, not to make any alliances or seek power unlike Farooq Abdullah. She was also accompanied by senior party leader and Deputy Speaker Mohammad Sartaj Madni, Zone President Zaffarulla Wani, Reyaz Ahmad and others. |
