Landline customers sans connectivity for over 5 months, authorities in no action mode | BSNL's new tactics of irritating subscribers | | Shiv Thakur
Jammu, Apr 7: Controversy over signal hiccups and change of number transportability from BSNL to other telecommunication companies is yet to see a closure as BSNL authorities are once again in limelight over their failure to streamline their underground cable networks. Same was witnessed in Katra town where about 5 months back, PHE department dug the areas around kalka nagar to change the worn out pipes. During the time of digging, first, commuters and daily passerby faced hardships due to slippery conditions after heavy downpour and now another problem has come out due to their lethargy. Locals rued that while PHE was digging the locality, cable network of the BSNL got damaged badly following frequent cuts in the wires due to unplanned digging through JCB. Following this, all landline connections in the locality were disconnected temporarily following which many complaints were registered with the BSNL authorities orally as well as telephonically but all went in vain as no one bothered to the grievances of the locals. Much to the amazement is the fact that once, a local, when complained the issue with JE and the technical team, they brazenly denied any help to the victims of the Semi-Government telecommunication company and said-"We don't have proper equipments, cable as well and hence we advice the locality members to change from landline mode to Wireless Landline (WLL) mode. Same has caused widespread resentment among the villagers as some of them are using the landline connections for the last over 15 years and hence they are finding it entirely difficult to change abruptly. When Sub Divisional Engineer (SDE) Katra Ghanshyam contacted by this newspaper, he maintained that a new cable wire will be placed in place of worn-out wire to address the problems of the long time BSNL subscribers in the holy town of Katra. |
