Is Omar out of EC net? | | | Asif Iqbal Naik JAMMU, Apr 8: Even after four days of violating Model Code of Conduct by Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah by announcing Paharis status to the Schedule Tribes to lure their votes in favor of alliance candidate Madan Lal Sharma during a public rally at Rajouri, the Election Commission of India is yet to initiate action against him. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah was in trouble for violating the Model Code of Conduct by announcing schedule tribe status for Paharis during one of his speechs in Rajouri. The opposition parties BJP and PDP have slamed Omar for this announcement and have filed the complaint with Election Commissioner of India demanding action against Chief Minister. Both Yash Pal Sharma and Jugal Kishore, PDP and BJP Candidates from Jammu-Poonch-Rajouri Parliamentary seat filed written complaint against Omar for violating Model Code of Conduct by making this announcement as during the Model Code of Conduct, no such announcement can be made. They beside written applications have also submitted a Compact Disk as a proof of his speech to District Electoral Officer Rajouri. The District Electoral Officer has already forwarded the Complaint to Chief Electoral Officer Jammu and Kashmir Umang Narula for action. Now which is to be seen whether the Chief Electoral Officer Jammu and Kashmir and Election Commission of India are going to act against the complaint against Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and take action against him or not. |
