Srinagar, Apr 8: Traffic on the 300-km-long Srinagar-Jammu national highway was resumed after remaining disrupted yesterday due to landslides, triggered by heavy rains at several places. A traffic police official said light vehicles from Srinagar and Jammu were allowed this morning. However, heavy vehicles will ply from Srinagar to Jammu only and no vehicle was allowed from the opposite direction.They will be allowed from both sides from April 10. Traffic on the highway, connecting the Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, was suspended yesterday following landslides at several places, including Nashri and Penthal due to heavy rains. However, the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) responsible for the maintenance of the highway, cleared the landslides on the highway after the weather improves in the afternoon.Later, all vehicles stranded on both sides of the highway allowed to proceed towards their respective destinations. |
