Reasi Adm for maximum women participation in LS | | | Early Times Report
Reasi, Apr 8: To make maximum women voters' participation in coming Lok Sabha elections, district administration has been busy in running door-to-door campaigns, trying to cajole women voters to come out and cast their vote.During the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Reasi recorded 33.3% turnout of female electorates. In the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, Reasi had 100771 lakh female voters. However, only 33.3 per cent of them voted. The lowest polling percent of 4.02% was recorded in polling station Dheda-1, followed by 4.98% in Parthal polling station of the district. "Our main focus is on those villages in the district where the turnout of female voters has been less than 15 per cent said the District Election Officer (DEO), who is playing an active role in bringing female voters to the polling booths. "The voting percentages for the Lok Sabha elections are always on a low side. However, we are doing our best to improve the turnout, especially of female voters. We are taking the help of women connected with self-help groups and those associated with the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) to reach out to women in the district, he added. Earlier, the district administration on eve of International Women's Day launched "Signature Campaign" for awareness of female voters through Anganwadi workers/helpers. |
