Early Times Report

Kathua, Apr 8 : BJP Member of Parliament & Bollywood celebrity Vinod Khanna, accompanied by MP and J&K Prabhari Avinash Rai Khanna and party candidate for Kathua-Udhampur-Doda Parliamentary constituency Jitendra Singh, arrived in Kathua today from Lakhanpur.
They were taken around Kathua city in scooter rally, which finally culminated at Bhagat Singh Park, where a massive public rally was held. The three leaders on an open chariot (rath) were greeted by thousands of people who thronged both the sides of the roads throughout the route of scooter rally.
Vinod Khanna while addressing the public, made a strong appeal to vote for party candidate Jitendra Singh adding that he has come to campaign for this seat because it is very important for the party and the party leadership is keen that we should make our candidate victorious and send him to the Lok Sabha. He said that J&K is the crown of India and therefore a strong message against the corruption, mis-governance and terrorism should go from here.
Quoting one of his favourite dialogue "maar diya jaaye yaa chod diya jaaye", he added to it "bol Congress tere saath kya salook kiya jaaye". He said that the Congress deserves to be wiped out totally and it has no right to sit even in opposition for the clear reason that the people are fed up with its acts of omission and commission.
He also accused the Congress leaders of being arrogant and having little respect for democratic values as well as for leaders of high statute belonging to other political parties. He said that the nation has suffered a lot and the time has come when the Congress should be shown the door. For this, people should get united to defeat it in the forthcoming Lok Sabha election.
Avinash Rai Khanna said that the wave in favour of BJP and its Prime Ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is visible in every nook and corner, which is an indicator that the people want a change at the Centre and the only option available with them is the victory of BJP.
He said that the most significant aspect is that Narendra Modi is committed to take forward the legacy of Atal Behari Vajpayee and its impact is also seen among the people of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, who still remember Vajpayee for his sincere efforts in bringing normalcy in the State besides extending a hand of friendship to Pakistan.
Jitendra Singh said that it is not an ordinary election because the people of the country are going to decide as to who will be the next Prime Minister. He appealed to the people of Kathua to poll more than 90 percent votes on Election Day so that Kathua-Udhampur-Doda can contribute to the Mission 272+ to make Narendra Modi as Prime Minister. He said that when BJP comes to power, it will take decisive steps to end Pak sponsored terrorism in this area, grant rights to West Pakistan and PoJK refugees, ensure appropriate wages for VDCs and SPOs and redress the problems of the border people.
State General Secretary Rajiv Jasrotia, party MLA Durga Dass, West Pakistan Refugees leader Labha Ram Gandhi and SoS International (an organisation for PoK refugees) Chairman Rajiv Chuni also shared the stage.
Kathua District President Vijay Sharma (Adv.) conducted the proceedings of the public rally.
Sain Dass, Narinder Singh, Om Parkash Wazir, Rashpal Verma, Prem Nath Dogra, Inderjit Sharma, Raghunandan Singh and others also addressed the rally.
