Sports Reporter JAMMU, Apr 11: Sainik Colony Club shall be playing against another emerging club of Param FC in the final of the Ist Vishal Heer Memorial Football Tournament underway at GGM Science College ground, here tomorrow. Earlier, in the semifinals, played today, Sainik Colony registered yet another tie-breaker win to sail into the final. This time, Sainik Colony defeated hosts Young Heroes 4-3 after holding latter goalless in the stipulated time. Sainik Colony played as a cohesive unit to contain the aggression of tough opponent which had players from professional sides of Power Development Corporation (PDC). Both sides got a couple of opportunities, but failed to convert them into goals. In one such move, Young Heroes goal-keeper, Tushal Heer made a brilliant effort to foil a sure goal chance in the last move of the first half play. Tushar successfully stopped the power-packed kick taken from within the penalty area, but only to find Sainik Colony took rebound. However, alert guard at the net pushed the ball away to leave opponent high and dry. Later, in tie-breaker, Vishal Kumar, Vishal Sharma, Vijay Kumar and Dharam Pal successfully converted the penalties while Gagandeep Singh and Niteshwar missed the target. Similarly, Dimple, Bhanu Kumar and Vijay Kumar were successful scorers from Young Heroes while Mukesh Kumar, Ranjit Rana and Varun Sharma failed in their attempts on the net. Meanwhile in other semifinal, Param FC trounced Vijay Heroes by a solitary goal. Satnam Singh netted the only goal of the match in the 35th minute of the match. After taking first lead, Param FC defended well and spared little chance for the opponent to break their defense line. Satnam Singh of the winning team was named man of the match. Today's match officiated by the technical penal including Rajesh Sumberia, Harleen Singh, Rohit Kumar Gupta, Harmanjeet Singh and Rinku Gill. |
