SRINAGAR, Apr 11: Troubles and worries for the National Conference Ministers and legislators seem far from over since the party cadre are up in arms against their leaders alleging that leaders have failed to come up to the expectations of general masses.
Speaker Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul who is the MLA of Eidgah constituency faced wrath from his workers while chairing a meeting in his constituency some days back. As the meeting was going on a group of the National Conference workers stood up and objected to the claims of Gul that he has done wonders in his constituency.
Sources told Early Times that MLA Eidgah tried his best to persuade the agitated workers, but failed to do so. They said that Eidgah has faced neglect during the present coalition dispensation adding that Gul is deceiving people by painting a rosy picture. They pointed towards the under-development in the various areas of the constituency and asked Gul to pull up his socks.
"The MLA was thinking that the meeting will pass off peacefully, but he was surprised after being countered by some of his workers who worked tirelessly for him more so during the days of elections. He failed to provide a satisfactory answer to the queries raised by the workers and had to cut a sorry figure," said sources.
After sensing that he will not be able to tide over the 'crisis' MLA Eidgah registered a case against two of his workers in a nearby police post and got them lodged in the police lock up. Although, the two workers produced the bail next day, but still then they were not let free by the police post authorities.
"The staff of the police station asked the two workers to stay put at police station since the in-charge of the police post was not present there. Despite having the bail with them these two workers passed off the night at the police post. They were released next day only after virtually pleading with the concerned officer that they will never raise their protest in future," said sources.
Sources said that the two workers along with some other workers objected to the dismantling of a community centre in the Noor Bagh area and said the community centre developed cracks within no time. They also took on the concerned MLA with regard to the dilapidated condition of roads in the constituency and said the local legislator has failed to solve the genuine problems of his electorate.
"National Conference workers in general are not happy with the performance of Mubarak Gul in the Eidgah constituency. They have been lamenting over the denial of the basic rights to the people of the constituency and have been holding the local legislator responsible for all the mess around," said sources.
Sources said that a good number of National Conference workers are not happy with the overall performance of Mubarak Gul as the legislator of Eidgah constituency. They are ruing the fact that they have helped a candidate to win who did not deserve to represent the people living in areas that come under Eidgah constituency
