MENDHAR, Apr 11: To the consequence of the yesterday's fallout at Mendhar that witnessed a bloody voting at polling booth no 43 at Kalaban that had left two People’s Democratic Party agents in pool of blood after being allegedly attacked by Deputy Chairman, Javed Ahmed Rana's goons, the whole town wore a deserted look today in the wake of the bandh call given by the PDP workers and supporters who carried out a whole day protests amid sloganeering and demanding a lodging of FIR against Rana.
Mendhar, since 9 am in the morning presented a deserted view as the entire town remained indoors on the call given by the PDP supporters who roamed the streets and lanes and main bazaar voicing their concern over the alleged malpractice exercised by NC leader and Deputy Chairman, Javed Ahmed Rana in casting 92 percent bogus votes while using the muscle power as well as his administrative influence in the area.
The PDP workers who had tried to reach the district administration as well as the law and order enforcing agencies with a plea to take the cognizance of the matter were not given any audience which had left them in bewilderment and today they took to streets and bazaars in protest against the administration demanding action against the culprits.
While the entire Mendhar town came to a standstill with movement of vehicles and commuters to coming to the halt, the information, however, reached the high ups who did not even cared to take the notice of the matter until the PDP MLA from the area Sardar Rafiq Hussain Khan intervened and called upon the Director General of Police Ashok Prasad.
As per Khan , DGP said that he had a petty information about a trifle jostle having taken place on the booth, but only on being briefed by the MLA to the DGP that entire Poonch administration swung into action , which otherwise , as per the last developments had shied away from the incident , probably having cowed down by the influential Dy Chairman , who is believed to be enjoying good political elan in Mendhar.
Additional SSP Poonch Amit Gupta, Additional DC Poonch Arvind Sharma, ACR Poonch Shafiq Ahmed reached the spot at Mendhar at PDP MLA Sardar Rafiq Hussain Khan's residence to get the first hand information of the entire incident.
They were briefed by PDP ex MLC Mohd Rashid Qureshi, sporting a bandage on his head , who was stone pelted by Rana's PSOs on the eve of polls and was joined by the two polling agents viz Munawar Hussain and Abdul Khaliq who were the major victims of the attack on the polls eve.

Mendhar town had witnessed a severe fallout Thursday on the eve of Jammu-Poonch parliamentary poll between the ruling coalition partner National Conference and major opposition People’s Democratic Party when situation turned hostile at polling booth no 43 at Kalaban ,Mendhar .
The National Conference leader and the Deputy Chairman, Javed Ahmed Rana as per the reports had allegedly taken over the control of the area by capturing poll booth No. 43 and in the process cast 92 % bogus votes in the favour of National Conference by overpowering Mendhar.
While the NC leader was on voting spree casting the illegal votes, he was objected by the PDP agents present on the occasion who were roughed up by Rana's PSO and his other goons who hit the agents with rifle butts leaving them in pool of blood.
However, after completing the legal process and the formalities, SSP assured strict action against the culprits, if proven guilty.
It was after his assurance that the PDP workers called off their protest by 6 p.m. in the evening.
