NC, Cong harbingers of peace, development: Kichloo | 'BJP, PDP will continue to remain on sidelines' | | Early Times Report
Kishtwar, Apr 11: Minister of State for I&C and Home, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, while highlighting the achievements of the NC-Congress government said that NC, Congress coalition government had firmly put J&K on course for becoming a truly developed state. He added that both BJP and PDP are running away from realty by denying the good work done by the Coalition government which is evident on the ground. The Minister was addressing several public meetings here today for garnering support for Ghulam Nabi Azad, the Congress-NC candidate from Udhampur-Kathua-Doda parliamentary constituency. Senior district NC leaders Imtiyaz Ahmad Zargar, Ghulam Rasool Magray, Mohammad Aslam Dev, Shabir Ahmad Kamal, Rajinder Sen were also present on the occasion. Asking people to elect Ghulam Nabi Azad and other coalition candidates in the coming Lok Sabha elections in the State, Kichloo stated that the UPA government has been the real harbinger of peace and development in the country. "During UPA I & II rule, the stature of the country has grown internationally and a new chapter of development has been written nationally," he said, adding J&K has been a direct beneficiary of the country's immense progress. Kichloo stated that BJP is hungry for power and using all available means to demonize the Congress and its UPA allies in the coming Lok Sabha elections. "They have been out of power for over a decade now. The excellent work done by UPA I & II will keep them on the sidelines for another 5 years," the minister said, adding BJP's delay in announcing its election manifesto is a clear manifestation of its internal contradictions and added that the BJP's election manifesto officer nothing for the people except division on communal lines. He also criticized the PDP for creating hurdles in the development of the State and raising issues that have a direct bearing on the safety and security of the State. "J&K under the dynamic leadership of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has made J&K a model state with achievements registered in all indices of development," Kichloo added. Praising Ghulam Nabi Azad for his significant contribution in development of health infrastructure across the State, the Minister highlighted the huge steps taken by J&K in health sector that has been recognized at various fora. Creation of new medical colleges and commissioning of super specialty hospitals will make advanced treatment possible within the State now, he said, adding people will always remember the contribution of Ghulam Nabi Azad in the development of the State both in the in the capacity Union Minister or State's former chief minister. Referring to the creation of 659 administrative units in the State, Kichloo stated that the new network of administrative units will bring people and administration even more closely. He added that the Government will work strenuously for operationalizing the newly-created administrative units shortly. The Minister also highlighted the valuable contribution of the UPA Government in development of the State by sanctioning funds under several Centrally-sponsored schemes in different sectors like PMRP, PMGSY, CRF, Inter-State Road Connectivity Programme, Special Bridges Programme, NRHM, RGGVY, NRWDP, AIBP, MGNREGA, PMEGP, ICDS, RMSA and SSA. |
