New Delhi, June 9:In the first high-level India-US interaction under the Narendra Modi government, US Assistant Secretary of State Nisha Biswal met with her counterpart at the Ministry of External Affairs on Monday. Biswal said, "The US is very excited about the future and the road ahead as the Modi government has come with a resounding mandate. The US wants to partner with India in fulfilling those aspirations and hopes of the people. The President in his first call to the Prime Minister of India has welcomed him to the US." Biswal also met the Joint Secretary of the US divisions and other MEA officials. Biswal had arrived in India on Saturday on a three-day visit. Her visit comes months ahead of Modi's visit to the US, where he will be meeting President Barack Obama on the sidelines of the UNGA summit. |
