D&FCO Jammu lifts 216 medicine samples | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, June 9: Continuing with its endeavor to ensure availability of quality medicines to the consumers, special squads of, Drugs & Food Control Organization (D&FCO) , Jammu conducted simultaneous raids in various places across Jammu region and lifted 216 numbers of samples for determining their quality from Drug Testing laboratory. According to official spokesperson, during the drive 345 establishments were checked while 216 numbers of samples were lifted for determining their quality from Drug Testing laboratory. He said that 74 recommendations were furnished by the Inspector of Drugs to the respective Licensing Authorities for taking administrative action against defaulting firms for violating provisions of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act 1940 &rules there under during these surprise visits. "The licensees have been warned of legal action in case of continued violations by the concerned authorities, he said adding, "in case of continued sale of habit forming drugs (sedatives) without following the mandate of law which envisages that such drugs should be dispensed strictly against the prescription of Registered Medical Practitioner while ensuring availability of such preparations for medicinal purposes, the Licensing Authorities have been directed to cancel the licenses of such firms. Meanwhile Deputy Controller, Drugs & Food Control Organization, Jammu also conducted a workshop on good distribution practices particularly relating to the storage & distribution of vaccines & sera & sensitized the Trade fraternity while stocking /distributing such preparations. |
