Jammu, July 27: A "blue-eyed" Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), who continues to be in Relief Organization, Jammu, for the past six years, has been holding the charge of five sub-divisions. He is alleged to have grown so "powerful" that a few months back, he had refused to obey his transfer order issued by government. Surprisingly, he has been holding the charge of five sub-divisions for the last more than six years and recently the higher officials in Relief Organization, expressing "gratitude" to the officer, gave him the charge of Executive Engineer (Xen). Sources informed Early Times that AEE Rajesh Sharma has been holding the charge of five sub-divisions across Jammu and Kashmir for the last more than five years. "On September 14, the state government had issued order of transfer of said engineer to the office of Chief Engineer R&B, Jammu, but instead of joining the new assignment, the AEE managed his posting at Relief Organization Jammu, with the help of a Minister and some higher officials in the organisation ", sources alleged. They alleged that the AEE (PWD, R&B), who had come on deputation basis in Relief Organization for a few years, had stuck to the post and become so powerful and "blue-eyed" of some higher officials that he refused to obey the transfer order. "For the last more than six years, the officer has been holding charge of five sub-divisions including Jagti Nagrota, Purkho- Muthi, Sheikhpora (Budgam), Vessu (Qazigund) and Hall (Shopian)", sources said, adding that in these areas, under Prime Minister’s Re-Construction Programme major projects worth Rs 700 Crore were executed by the AEE. "Why the charge of five Sub-divisions has been given to the AEE when there are other officers available in the department?", sources said, adding that Sharma was not relieved despite the fact that new AEE P K Koul has come in his place. Instead of relieving the officer, the new Commissioner has allegedly given charge of Executive Engineer to AEE, who has already been holding five posts. |
