| CAPD under scanner, involvement of officials suspected | | | Mohd Irfan
Jammu, July 27: After the exposure of a scam of misappropriation of government ration barely a month ago in Jammu at Seri Rakhwal Domana at Balbir Flour Mill by police, CAPD authorities issued statements of putting an end to the malpractices in the department but their claims on this account have proved to be contrary to the ground reality.
Police had arrested some persons, including CAPD officials, who were allegedly involved in the ration scam but still there are culprits who have not been arrested due to their influence.
As per reports 20,000 kg of ration was being misappropriated and this mill shifted the flour & rice in the name of 'Gokul chakki Atta' in their own name and grade clandestinely.
"This scam of ration is not possible without the involvement of CAPD officials at the helm of affairs," said an official, adding, police need to go for thorough investigation to unlid the scam and unravel the truth beyond the scam which is taking toll on masses and bringing bad name to CAPD department.
"Police needs to do fair investigation into this grave scam otherwise officials will not have any sense of fear.
Once they make more money, they make things possible for them by spending it, saving their skins.
The misappropriated ration is sold in the open market.
It seems that CAPD secretary's orders for better functioning of the department have been taken lightly by his subordinates. Sources said Domana police must do indepth investigation so that tainted officials & offenders don't go scot free."CAPD officials have the dubious distinction of getting the cases against them hush up by adopting illegal means," the sources alleged.
It is pertinent to mention that officials of CAPD are not taking any action against the ration black-marketers. In kishtwar district ration scam was unearthed and SSP had constituted the SIT to book the culprits but CAPD allegedly concealed facts so that investigations gets stalled.
Startling revelations allegedly revealed that CAPD officials who are culprits in this scam are making every effort to stall the investigation against them.
There is an apprehension of the case opening Pandora's Box, if dug further. Sources privy to the scam divulged that a CAPD AD was also a culprit and had been making every effort to save himself.
This AD has already a vigilance case pending against him. Despite that, he has been given a choice posting. Sources alleged that the AD was also close to some local media persons who were not filing stories against him. He was alleged to be greasing their palms.
"It has been worthwhile to mention here that there are various scams in CAPD for misappropriation of ration and the cases are pending against the guilty but no action has so far been taken against them.
Many of them are holding prize postings. Reason: They are well-versed with the art of avading investigations in this corruption-ravaged state. CAPD director G S CHIB was not available for comments. |
