MV International School celebrates Eid-ul-fitr

JAMMU, July 28: MV International School conducted a special programme on the eve of Eid-ul-Fitr with the special purpose of spreading message of peace and universal brotherhood. Chairman of the school, Hira Lal Abrol congratulated all students and teachers on this auspicious occasion.
Maulana Sahab was the special guest on the occasion; he talked about the importance of Eid celebration and preached the students on the issues of brotherhood, tolerance, equality, and respecting sentiments of all religions.
He explained the importance of this celebration in all possible details. He later performed the holy prayer 'Azaan' that spread the spiritual vibes all around the school. All students & teachers participated in the prayer for peace, prosperity & healthy well being.
Earlier the program started with stage breaking dance performance by the students of IX & X at the time of "Chand Nazar Aaya". The performance was full of zest and zeal and made everyone tap their feet. Megh Jyoti gave a highly informative speech on the importance of Eid celebration.



Wrestling body discusses promotion of game

JAMMU, July 28: Jammu and Kashmir Indian Style Wrestling Association, in collaboration with Reasi district association, conducted a seminar to discuss promotion of indigenous game in the state.
In the concluding session of the seminar, Senior Superintendent Police, Kulbir Singh was special guest, who interacted with the delegates. The BSP leader, Rakesh Wazir and general secretary of Indian Style Wrestling Association of India, Roshan Lal were guests of honour.
Also present were Harish Dubey, Surinder Singh, Gopal Krishan Komal, Surinder Kumar Sharma, Virender Kumar Sharma and RS Manhas.
Earlier, president of the Association, Shiv Kumar Sharma highlighted the achievements and scope of the game in the state. He informed that the seminar was organised to seek suggestions discuss scope of the game with heads of various dangal committees and office bearers of the district associations as also those technical officials.
Around 120 representatives of 47 dangal committees of Jammu region as also those office bearers of the district associations took part in this seminar. Naresh Kumar presented vote of thanks while Mulkh Raj Sharma conducted the proceedings.
Among those individuals who expressed their view point included Roshan Lal, Prem Chowdhary, Bansi lal Tidyal, Prithvi Raj Sharma, Mulkh Raj Sharma, Naresh Kumar (Pappu Lakri), Virender Kumar Sharma, Yog Raj Gupta, Rehmat Ali (Sarpanch), Raj Singh, Bittu Raina, Sunder Sharma, Raj Paul Kesar, Kishori Lal, Lal Singh, Luxhman Singh, Ratten Singh Manhas, Sarpanch Ratten Singh, Tulinder Kumar and Subash Sharma as also Lochan Singh and Sanjeev Kumar Sharma.


WAC Inter-Air Force School Basketball C’ship concludes

JAMMU, July 28: The Western Air Command (WAC) Inter Air Force School Basketball Championship 2014 (Boys and Girls) was conducted at Air Force School Jammu. Seven Air Force schools of Western Air Command namely AFS Hindan, AFS Sarsawa, AFS Halwara, AFS Chandigarh, AFS Ambala, AFS Pathankot and the host team AFS Jammu participated in the 4 days championship.
The final match for girls category were played between Ambala and Chandigarh in which Ambala recorded a convincing win. The host team Jammu got the third place.
The final of the boys' championship was played between Ambala and Jammu wherein AFS Ambala won in a nail-biting contest. The host team Jammu remained the runner's up.AFS Chandigarh got the third place.
Air Commodore P E Patange YSM VM Air Officer Commanding, Air Force Station, Jammu was the chief guest on the occasion. He appreciated the sportsmanship and enthusiasm of the students. He reiterated that sports provide an excellent pathway for students to develop mental strength, camaraderie and competitive spirit.



Dr Sudhir Mahajan delivers lecture on method acting

JAMMU, July 28: Dr. Sudhir Mahajan a prominent theatre practioners, Director and founder of Samooh Theatre, today delivered a lecture on Method Acting with regards to the Indian as well as Jammu J&K actors here at J.K. Convent School Subash Nagar, Jammu.
In his intensive & Research lecture Dr. Sudhir Mahajan spoke for two hours about the various theatre methodologies were developed by the Indian and western theatre thinkers, philosophers and the theatre practioner as well.
He said that theatre is the best and strong medium to impart and inculcate values, promote culture and aesthesis in view of the changing persecpectives of the societies. He discussed the Stanislavisky, Breecht, Mayourhold Grotovisky, Peter brook and many Indian directors who developed and introduced the concept of acting methodology in order to make the acting as an art.
The theatre practioner of various groups students, young play wrights attend the lecture which was the new and amazing experience for them.

Evershine makes it huge 112 runs win

JAMMU, July 28: Sailing on superb performance from Lovely and Jaswinder, Evershine Cricket Club today made it a huge 112 runs win over Magnum 13 in the Ravi Singh Charak Memorial Twenty20 Tournament underway at Government Model School, Satwari, here.
While Jaswinder completed his half century, Lovely made hat trick to reduce the opponent to a small total.
Batting first, Evershine made 190 runs for the loss of seven wickets. Jaswinder made 51 runs while Lovely contributed 32 runs to the total. Abhishant Bakshi added 20 runs. From Magnum, Ali took three wickets and Muddassir bagged two.
Later, Magnum bowled out for 78 runs in 16.3 overs, courtesy hat trick from Lovely. Except for Dushyant, who made 33 runs, no other batsman could touch the double figure mark. Bansi and Lovely took three wickets each, followed by Vinny, who bagged two. Abhishant and Chamkar shared apiece each.
For his all-round performance, Lovely was declared man of the match.


8 Akhnoor Tehsil T20 Cup
Narrow 2-run win for Adarsh Club

JAMMU, July 28: Adarsh Cricket Club today registered a narrow two-run win against City Riders Akhnoor in the ongoing Akhnoor Tehsil Cricket Cup Twenty20 Tournament at Government (boys) Higher Secondary School ground, Akhnoor.
With today's win, Adarsh Club sailed into the semifinals stages. Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Adarsh Club bowled out for 120 runs in 19.4 overs.
Kulbir Singh and Sahil Mishra were main scorers with 35 and 25 runs in their respective accounts while Ashok contributed 10 runs. From City Riders, Mukesh and Abhishek took three wickets each. Sandeep Singh also bowled well taking away two wickets while Sanju clinched one.
In reply, City Riders exhausted their quota of overs at 118 runs for the loss of eight wickets thus lost the match by two runs. From Adarsh Club, Sunny Sharma bagged three wickets. Ashok and Anil shared two each.
For taking three important wickets Sunny Sharma was declared man of the match. Today's match officiated by Rajinder Sharma and Dayal Singh as umpires while Vinod Kumar was scorer.
Next Match: Singh Challenger shall take on Jourian XI tomorrow.

Stephens International Public School bags gold medals at Nepal

JAMMU, July 28: Mehak Saroch, Utkarsh Sudan and Vinod Bharadwaj of Stephens International Public School won gold medals in 26 kg and 60 kg weight range in Asian International Mastogi-do-championship 2014-15 competitions held at Kathmandu, Nepal.
The Director Satvinder Saini and the Principal BN Sarkar congratulated the students and the teacher cum coach Gautam Sharma for bringing laurels to the School.
