Earlier also, suspension orders were revoked within days | Is suspension of JK Medicity licence an eye wash? | | Akshay Azad JAMMU, July 28: The suspension of license of JK Medicity Hospital Private Limited by Director Health Services (Jammu) on Monday, following termination of eight month old pregnancy of a woman, is seen as merely an eye-wash by the doctors working in Health department. The doctors pleading anonymity informed Early Times that the Director had issued order of suspension of licence/registration of JK Medicity Hospital, under J&K Nursing Homes and Clinical Establishments Act, but the action was reportedly taken to escape from public anger over the negligence by hospital staff. The doctors claimed that majority of Nursing Homes and Clinics in entire Jammu province have been running in violation of norms. "Moreover in the last two years, two Nursing Homes viz-a-viz Life Scan, Last Morh, Jammu, and Swastic Nursing Home, Janipur, were also sealed, following complaints of negligence", the doctors said. They said after its sealing when an inspection was conducted, the inspection team was surprised to find that the Swastic Nursing Home was already functional. "The front door of Nursing Home was sealed but rear door was open", the doctor claimed, adding that within few days of sealing of both the clinics, the suspension order was revoked but it was still unknown on what grounds the suspension orders were revoked?. The doctors claimed that same would happen with JK Medicity too and its suspension order would be revoked once the public anger cooled down. "There are many Nursing Homes and Clinics, managements of which have applied for inspection of their Clinics for years but their applications have been gathering dust in the Director Health office", the doctor claimed. He alleged that whenever a team of Health department went for inspection of any Clinic or Nursing Home, the latter's managements were alerted in advance. There were some black sheep in the department who were close to these managements, he alleged. "If inspection of all clinics is conducted in a fair manner, none of them will be allowed to run business as majority of them are running in violation of norms", sources claimed. |
