Family members stage protest alleging 'foul play' in death of ReT teacher

Rajouri, Aug 16: Family members and relatives besides locals from village Potha held protest dharna on Rajouri-Thanamandi-Darhal road near district hospital alleging that the deceased was forced by in-laws to commit suicide and police has failed to take action against the accused. Raising slogans against the police and district administration people blocked the road for three hours and lifted the protest only after Shiv Kumar Chohan , ASP Rajouri who assured the people that deceased's father-in-law and co-brother have been arrested as demanded by the family members. Police sources said that the deceased Aurangzeb got married Saheen Akhter d/o Abdul Hamid some 18 months ago and since then he (the deceased) had some 'variance relations' with his a brother in law (from his wife's side) namely Mohd Shabir a police constable posted at Rajouri and resident of Poonch, in-laws and other relatives.
Sources said, "family members of Aurangzeb had also alleged that on August 15 his wife gave birth to a female child at District Hospital and was taken by the parents to their house and they (in-laws) also called the deceased to their home."
Quoting one family member of deceased, sources said, "the deceased ranged up at his house at about 12.30pm and informed his parents that he is being harassed by his co-brother and in-laws over some issues."
"Before they could react or arrange to go to the house of their son's in-law, sources said and added that they received another call that their son had committed suicide by jumping from 2nd storey of his in-laws house.'
Family members of the deceased rushed to the hospital and after taking stock of the circumstances that led the deceased to take this extreme step, they took the body of the deceased to nearby road and held protest demonstration demanding justice. They also were demanding whether Deputy Commissioner Rajouri or SSP Rajouri should come and assure them about fair probe and action against guilty for abetting suicide by the deceased.
Meantime DSP, HQs rushed to the spot and tried to pacify the protesters but they refused and later ASP rushed to the spot and informed them Abdul Hamid , father-in-law and police constable have been arrested and police parties have been send to apprehend other accused who been identified in forcing Aurengzeb to commit suicide.
A senior officer on anonymity said that there is likelihood of registering a case u/s 306 RPC against the accused.
