`Vijay Bakaya is spokesperson of NC, not Kashmiri Pandits'
8/16/2014 11:58:52 PM

Jammu, Aug 16: It is strange to see that someone who has remained in high position in bureaucracy and become MLC by sheer luck today claims to be the only leader and spokesperson of Kashmiri Pandit community.
He is living in a fool's paradise and projecting himself as a leader of Pandit community. Vijay Bakaya, MLC and leader of National Conference in an interview to a local daily of Kashmir has said that he is the spokesperson of the Kashmiri Pandits and has been accepted in that capacity.
His overtures, however, have been ascribed to his frustration. Having been denied a Ministerial berth, Bakaya, it seems, is trying to stay prominent by issuing controversial statements about Pandits, Kousarnag Yatra and other issues concerning the community.
Prominent Pandits while rejecting Bakaya's claims as ridiculous said the community had produced stalwarts like Pt. Kashap Bandhu, Jiya Lal Kilam, Prem Nath Bazaz, Shiv Narayan Fotedar and many more. And in present days, Agnishekhar, Dr Ajay Chrungoo, Ashwani Chrungoo, Moti Koul, Vinod Pandit, Kundan Kashmiri, RKBhat and many others including late Amar Nath Vaishnavi and Late H.L.Chatta.
The Pandits also contested his statement on Kousarnag Yatra. He had said that it was not decided by the community. "Bakaya is trying his best to please his masters by issuing statements," they said adding "he has been seeking a NC ticket to contest the forth coming elections from Habba Kadal constituency."
They also rejected his claim of being the spokesperson of the community.
