Jammu, Aug 16: Sanskrit Department of Govt. College for Women, Gandhi Nagar celebrated Sanskrit week, from August 7 to 14. According to press release, on this occasion Dr. Kiran Bakshi, Principal of the College was the Chief Guest. A healthy practice of celebration of Sanskrit Week was pioneered by Dr. Kiran Bakshi to promote this dwindling language from our society. Dr. Padmini Tickoo welcomed the Principal, participants, staff and students and spoke about the glorious past of this language. Students of B.A Semester I, II year and III year attended it and presented paper on diverse topics ranging from "Need of Sanskrit in the present time", "Kalidass as Versatile dramatist", "Sanskrit - a language of Indian Culture". Dr. Kiran Bakshi urged the students to use this language not only a subject but as a language of communication as it a store house of wisdom and binds you with ancient India, its traditions and values. It was coordinated by Dr. Padmini Tickoo and vote of thanks was presented by Dr. Sudhanshu Sharma. |
