Animal Husbandry distributes chicks to 125 BPL beneficiaries | | | Early Time Report
Jammu, Aug 16: Department of Animal Husbandry, Jammu today implementing the centrally sponsored scheme of Rural Backyard Poultry development distributed poultry birds to 125( BPL) beneficiaries of village Dhoke Jagir, Kanik Jagir in Block Akhnoor and Surinsur village in block Dansal. According to press release, Poultry development officer, Jammu Dr. Pran Koul exhorted the beneficiaries to take advantage of this poor - friendly scheme. Koul stressed that no special capital investment was required for upkeep of these birds as these can be reared and maintained on kitchen waste. He further said that around 60,000 birds had distributed to the identified 1566 BPL beneficiaries upto the ending March 2014 and further 6315 birds had distributed to the identified 421 BPL beneficiaries during the current year. Koul appealed to the local sarpanchs and panchs to exert their influence upon the beneficiaries to maintain and rear these birds till their reproductive age was completed and take the benefit of this scheme. Various other schemes of the department like poultry capital venture fund scheme, micro- poultry units under tribal sub plan, subsidized poultry vaccines and medicines were discussed amongst the framers. The distribution programme was attended by the staff of poultry organization Jammu the concerned Sarpanches, panches and representative of the rural development department besides the prominent citizens of the village. |
