Early Times Report

Srinagar, Aug 16 : Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president, Mehbooba Mufti has said the ruling National Conference has created a record of sorts by giving the state worst ever governments over the years.
"After having stood out as the worst ever government even by NC standards the Omar Abdullah government has exposed itself as the worst loser as well" she told gatherings of prominent opinion leaders and their supporters today who joined the PDP.
Addressing these functions held to welcome renowned social and political activist from Srinagar, Malik Asif Noor and a senior veterinarian Dr Abdur Rashid from Trehgam, Kupwara along with their hundreds of supporters into the party fold, she said though the victory and defeat are part of democracy but the National Conference leadership is severely unnerved by the defeat in Lok Sabha polls and the prospect of imminent rout in the forthcoming assembly elections and that is why in desperation they have virtually pushed the state into virtual anarchy and chaos.
"The anarchist approach adopted by the ruling NC government has again pushed Kashmir into a gloomy scenario of despair and alienation," Mehbooba said.
She said the NC leadership instead of working seriously for the people's cause, has pushed them to the wall through its insensitiveness, callous attitude and mis-governance over the last more than five years. Mehbooba said change is imminent on the ground and even after having read the writing on the wall the ruling party leadership has adopted ostrich like attitude and are now trying to mislead the people through fake promises and deceptive announcements.
"NC is a story of broken promises which has not been able to fulfill a single promise to the people from time to time," she said adding NC has a history of taking the people for granted by not fulfilling the promises it had made to them with the result it has completely lost its credibility and compromised its identity.
"This party is now trying to convince people it would do in six months which it could not in six years" she said.
Seeking decisive mandate of the people, Mehbooba said that change is a must and the people of the state were looking towards PDP to change the present corrupt system.
On the occasion senior party leaders, Tariq Hameed Karra, MP; Syed Altaf Bukhari, candidate for Amirakadal constituency; Naeem Akhtar, Chief Spokesperson; Abdul Hameed Kohsheen, State Secretary; Mohammad Yasir Reshi, candidate for Sonawari constituency; Fayaz Ahmad Mir, candidate for Kupwara constituency and party leaders, Haji Parvez Ahmad, District Coordinator, Srinagar, Shuja Sarwar and Mohammad Altaf Dar were also present on the occasion.
