PDD workshop at Hatli Morh caught fire | | | Early Times Report Kathua, Sept 6: Following an incidence of fire in workshop of Power Distribution Department at Hatli Morh the department has suffered a heavy loss. According to Xen Karam Chand, the incidence took place during night hours of Friday at about 10.30 Pm. He said that the incidence took place in repairing section unit where the transfer bindings are kept to dry the varnish coating in an oven type furnace. The technicians had kept four copper binding transformers in the furnace and ten aluminum binding transformer units were lying next to them for their turn. He added that furnace works with electric power supply and short circuit in power supply resulted in igniting fire. As the varnish is highly inflammable the fire spread very fast and did not gave chance to control. The fire spread to other adjoining areas and melted the copper and aluminum coil rolls worth Lakhs of rupees. "Later, the fire fighters came and extinguished the fire", he added. Regarding loss Xen said that concerning officers are preparing the details and it would be pre-mature to say anything regarding it. |
