Apprehending flood threat, 'Pel' residents stage protest | | | Early Times Report
Kathua, Sept 10: Residents from "village Pel" falling under Billawar Municipal Committee today staged a protest here today against the District administration and local MLA Dr Manohar Lal Sharma alleging that both have failed to take care of village which left cut off by the flood in Naz Nullah at Billawar. Agitated protestors amid slogans against the district administration and Local MLA Dr Manohar Lal Sharma and alleged they (local MLA and civil administration) have failed to address the problems of a flood affected people of Billawar. Protestors accused the MLA and District administration of neglecting them, and alleged when the flood fury is on and threat of being washed away of a village "Pel" situated close to the Naz Nullah there but authorities have taken no remedial measures so far. Retd teacher Ali alleged that over flowing Naz Nallah and the water in it has breached its embankment to enter into the entire village and put the entire population to face the life threat. "The agriculture land alongside the Nullaha is totally lost due to the soil erosion and people are left with no source of livelihood. Meanwhile Deputy Commissioner talking to some media persons said matter appealed to all the Flood affected people of the Billawar to get in touch with their concerned revenue officials to register the total loss for seeking the adequate compensation. |
