Except Go Air, all airlines charging Rs 250 per Kg relief for Srinagar | Charity costing dearer to NGOs | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Sept 10: The act of charity from Jammu to flood ravaged Kashmir is facing aviation wrath as except Go Air, all other airlines operating from Jammu to Srinagar and vice verse are charging Rs 250 per kilo relief package being dispatched to Sringar from Jammu The relief being provided to them voluntarily by the various Non Government Organizations from Jammu have reported such inhumane exercise undertaken by the airlines when all the agencies within and outside state are extending charity to flood torn state of Jammu and Kashmir . As per reports, except Go Air, all other airlines operating from Jammu to Srinagar and vice verse are charging Rs 250 on per kilo relief package being dispatched to Sringar from Jammu. The stark reality came to the notice of the ET management after some NGOs approached to the office of the ET and informed that they are being charged Rs 250 per kilogram quantity of relief including rice, floor and other confectionary items. The charge made effective ignoring benevolence attitude by the aviation regulator DGCA towards flood hit victims in Kashmir which reads as " With unprecedented floods devastating Jammu and Kashmir, aviation regulator DGCA today directed all airlines not to charge anything extra from passengers from Srinagar and Jammu if they rescheduled their bookings". Meanwhile when contacted, Director Jammu Airport said that the clarification is to be sought from the airlines indulged in such malpractice. |
