3000 kilometers road damaged in state: CE BRO | | | Early Times Report
Rajouri, Sept 10: Chief Engineer BRO, has said that about 3000 kilometers roads in J&K have been damaged in the recent flash flood flashes, out of which 1200 kilometers roads were in the hilly areas and the worst affected districts were Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi. As per press release, Brig Biswajit Bhatacharya was on 2 days tour to Rajouri to Poonch district to assess the loss. "Three bridges including two in Poonch and one in Rajouri has suffered damage resulting in snapping of connectivity between Jammu-Poonch and Jammu-Rajouri-Budhal and Reasi, he added He further said that the bridge at Dourngli (Poonch) was made operational within one day on September 9 by the members of Task Force and soldiers from Poonch brigde while make shift bridges will be send to Kotranka (on Ans river on Rajouri-Budhal road) and to Chakan-da-Bagh ( cross LoC point) which was cut off as one bridge was damaged. "These bridges will be made operational within next few days. The temporary connectivity on all the roads will also be restored within next 72 hours and it will take at-least one year for their restoration" said Brig Biswas. He further said that temporary connectivity to Poonch has been made but it will take another 2 more months for its fully restoration as BRO may face problems like clearance from Forest and Environment departments as new stretches of roads are to be constructed. |
