Jammu, Sept 22 : The National Social Services (NSS)Unit of Government Polytechnic Jammu today organized 'World Car Free Day' in the college in which all the students and faculty members came to college by local transport and by bicycles and gave up their cars and bikes for one day. According to press release, the day was celebrated to promote the theme 'Save Earth- Live Green'. On this occasion, a signature campaign was also organized in college campus in which the faculty members and students participated and pledged to keep the environment clean and green. A painting competition was also organized in the college campus, in painting the first prize in the competition was bagged by Vijay Kumar, Civil Engg. Deptt. , Second prize went to Avinash Khajuria of Travel and Tourism Deptt., and third prize was won by Mahami Sharma of, Civil Engg. Deptt. The prizes were distributed by Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal of the institution who while speaking on the occasion stressed upon the students and staff to take initiatives to keep their environment Clean & Green. On this occasion, the staff and students also donated funds for relief of Flood Victims of Jammu & Kashmir. The function was organized by Er. Ajay Thapa, Er. Khalid Sheikh, Er. Sakshi Kapahi; Lecturers, and the NSS team of the college. |
