Omar compensates for failures during floods New administrative units 10/19/2014 11:01:40 PM Shakeel A Khan BUDGAM, Oct 19: The sanctioning of the new administrative units is a bid by the Omar government to compensate for its failures in the flood situation. The people of the areas where these administrative have been sanctioned after reconsideration stand surprised as to what made the coalition government to announce the administrative for these areas. The residents of the Soibugh area were taken by surprise when they came to know that Tehsil status has been given to it. No emotional scenes were seen nor were the crackers burst. The only reason as to why the Tehsil status was accorded to the area at this point of time is purely politically motivated. The decision of the government to sanction Tehsil status to the Soibugh area at this point of time was enough to draw criticism instead of lauding it from the people because it has been done to silence the voices of the people of the area because they were let down by this government in the hour of crisis. "What does Omar Abdullah want to convey by giving Tehsil status to our area. Our area was no consideration for him and it existed nowhere when the first list of the newly created administrative units was published by the coalition government," said Ashfaq Ahmad, a local while talking to by the Early Times. Ashfaq went on saying that these decisions that have been taken out of compulsion by the coalition government and will in no way be helpful in reviving the fortunes of Omar Abdullah. Ashfaq said that the coalition government previously had nothing in store for the Soibugh area and National conference did nothing over the decades for its upliftment. People of the area generally believe that Omar wants to leave a good impression before his term expires otherwise it is in his knowledge that the poor governance of the coalition government led by National Conference has failed to deliver goods and that is why the people have reposed their faith in the newly emerging political forces of the state. "Omar wants that his term as the head of the of the coalition ends on a high note and that is why he is acting desperately these days. The CM could never find time to visit our area and look into the problems faced by the people.
