Funds being misused, sans proper seating arrangement | Training standard at SIE Jammu declining | | Avinash Azad Jammu, Oct 21: The standard of training at State Institute of Education (SIE) Jammu, has been declining with each passing day, allegedly due to non-seriousness of present incumbent of the institute, where more than two thousand teachers, lecturers and principals are being imparted training annually. Sources informed Early Times despite sufficient funds available with SIE for training purposes, the quality of the training being given to teaching community under various scheme has reportedly been waning. "There is no conducive atmosphere for imparting trainings as the sitting arrangements are not proper. During summer season, it is impossible to sit in the classrooms while in winter season, there are no heating arrangements, making it a headache for teachers", sources said. The institute is established to provide training to the teaching community including Teachers, Lecturers, Principals, Deputy Chief Education Officers and Chief Education Officers under schemes including Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) and Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA). "Government is paying Rs 300 per day for each trainee, but Rs 60-70 being spent to food, where rest of the money is going", they questioned? and added that the trainees are being forced to get their training without proper sitting arrangements. "The institute has its own auditoriums for training purposes, but inadequate arrangements, it is difficult to concentrate what is being taught us", said an trainee senior lecturer, adding that unfortunately they were un-able to raise their voice over the issue. "Since May, 2013, when present incumbent took over the charge of institute the quality of training is being compromised. Being head of institute, it is responsibility of the Joint Director to up-lift the institute, but he is not taking the job seriously", sources claimed. They alleged that the Joint Director, SIE, HR Pakhroo prefers to get media coverage instead of focusing on quality of training. "He (Joint Director) clicked photo with trainees on beginning and conclusion of any orientation programme and sent it for wide media coverage. Except this nothing has been done", sources claimed, adding that funds provided by the government for training purposes are being misused. |
