Early Times Report

Jammu, Nov 23 : Congress has accused BJP of compromising on its stated position on Article 370 for grabbing power in J&K in connivance with the separatists. Former Union Minister and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Gulam Nabi Azad, ridiculing BJP said that they were compromising with their principles to usurp power. Interacting with journalists here this evening Azad said that backtracking from its stand reflects party's secret alliance with Hurriyat in Kashmir.
Without naming BJP, Azad said that to pave their way in state Assembly National party was indulging in unethical practices. "They believe in communal politics, so they are doing same in Chenab valley and Jammu as well. Since the accession of J&K with Indian Union, they (Prajaparishad now BJP) have been hoodwinking people of the state, especially Jammuites on article 370. After announcement of Assembly Elections-2014 they have put their earlier agenda in oblivion", the congress leader commented. Referring to BJP's candidate from Habbakadal (in Kashmir) assembly constituency, Dr Hina Bhat stand that she would fight if article 370 is abolished, Azad said that not only Kashmir, entire state would be affected if special status to J&K state under constitution of India is eliminated. Advocating for Article 370, he said that the special status provided more benefits to Jammuites as compare to rest of state. "Abrogation of article 370 will make our state a hell, the citizen of state will not be able buy a piece of land here", he added.
"Party men from state unit of BJP misled PM Narendra Modi about the geography of state that's why PM was discussing Kashmir while addressing a rally in Kishtwar on Saturday", Former Union Health Minister said, adding that party was also un-aware about the number of assembly seats in J&K. "Amid its claims to form government in J&K, the BJP leadership talking about mission 44 plus.
There are 87 assembly seats in J&K why they are not eyeing all seats", he said and added that there were only 10 percent people in yesterday's rally at Kishtwar from Chenab Valley.
