New Delhi, Nov 23: Slamming Mamata Banerjee's remarks in response to BJP's allegations of her party's involvement in multi-crore Saradha chit-fund scam, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Sunday said that he is deeply disappointed by her statement.
“Didi's reaction to the interrogation and arrest of some of TMC leaders in Saradha scam has disappointed me. Some individuals associated with the TMC have been involved in making easy money from Ponzi schemes which have looted small investors,” ANI quoted Jaitley as saying.
He further went on to say that TMC's victory in Bengal was reaction to non-governance by Left and various political forces had joined the party to overthrow Left regime.
“NIA has arrested several individuals who have engineered the Burdwan blast. Why has Didi chosen to allege that the blast was stage managed,” asked Jaitley.
Banerjee, while hitting out at BJP, had yesterday said that she doesn't need a character certificate from the party and her credentials are known to the people of Bengal. She also termed the arrest of TMC leaders a 'political vendetta' and said that her party is being targeted because she had gone to attend a conclave of secular parties in Delhi.
“BJP instigating riots across India in the last few months - from Gujarat to Maharashtra. Even Delhi was not spared”. Does it think that it will incite riots in Bengal? We will never allow that,” Banerjee added.
"The investigation is not about whom Saradha has duped rather it is about who all have duped Saradha. And about the CBI, I don't have to say anything, the Supreme Court has already said enough about its credibility," said Banerjee asking for the reconstitution of the federal probe agency.
