Vishwa Bharati Public Higher School organizes Annual Sports Meet

JAMMU, Dec 15: Vishwa Bharati Public Higher Secondary School Akalpur Udheywalla Jammu organized Annual Sports Meet in its school premises today with great pomp and show. Director General Youth Services and Sports Sh. Naveen Aggarwal IPS was the Chief Guest and A.K Bhat Manager SBI Talab Tillo was the Guest of Honour on this occasion .Besides members of the school management including Dr.O.P Razdhan Senior Vice President Managing Committee , Dr.A.N Sandhu Chairman RAC, Shri J.L Koul Secretary College of Education and Public School while as Seema Aagarwal , Shri I.D Soni Commissioner J&K Bharat Scouts and Guides and Swami Shri Ekarthananda Secretary Shri Rama Krishnan Mission Udheywala Jammu were the Special Guest, people from different walks of life, Galaxy of intellectuals' parents of students, Principal Vishwa Bharati college of Education entire teaching fraternity were present. The event started with lightening of torch and declaration of meet open by the chief guest.
Oath ceremony conducted by head boy of the school and march past by four houses of the school Vishwa, Satyam, Shivam and Sundaram as also Flag hoisting and National Anthem gave a kick start to the programme. The main highlights of the meet were Ganesh Satuti, Lazium, Dumb-bells, Yoga Various types of races including 100 meter, 50 meter, Relay Race, Short Put, Discus Throw, Speed Skate, Cycle Race , Frog race and Butterfly race, Disco Dewane, Musical Chair, Rap Dance, Mass and Umbrella drill and Tug -of- war. The chief guest addressed the gathering and inspired the young minds with motivational and encouraging words. He said physical education must have as much place in the curriculum as mental training calling sports an integral part of curriculum as it helps us to achieve the desired goal, he asserted as that every student must involve himself/herself in one sport or the other instead of getting booked to electronic media. He lauded the efforts of the team managing and organizing the sports event as also for instilling the sportsmanship and spirit of competitiveness in the blooming buds. He also lauded the role of managing committee in raising the institution to present status despite numerous hardships, their dedication and devotion is imparting quality education to the children of the educationally backward area located in this country side of Jammu.
Earlier Principal of the School Annapurna Kaul presented a detailed welcome address, greeted the chief guest, the special guests, members of the school management who despite their multifarious engagements have made themselves available to make this annual sports day a grand show. She also asserted that games and sports besides being an integral part of education makes us disciplined increases our power of endurance and instills in us the sense of co-operation and co-existence. Prizes were given away to all those who had excelled in various activities in this event along with certificates of merit/participation.
J.L Kaul expressed his elation to see the organization of the meet in a befitting order congratulated all those who had involved themselves in one way or the other to make this programme a grand show particularly Joginder Singh from department of physical education and Mr. Veer Ji Mattoo from department of social Sciences.
I.D Soni in his inspiring speech expressed his elation over the performance of the students who actively participated in the event and termed physical education as an integral part of education. Prof. A.N.Sadhu in his speech said that physical education is an essential factor for the overall performance of the child .He asserted that a sound health alone can have sound mind. He also laid emphasis of having yoga as a part of school curriculum. Swami Ekarthananda Secretary Ramakrishna Mission blessed the students on this occasion .The programme concluded with a vote of thanks presented by Reetika Sharma from department of English, While as the programme was anchored Nirmal Suri and Aneeta Sharma from department of Hindi and Sanskrit respectively.
