In times of distress PSC decides to hold departmental examination for Revenue officials | | | Jehangir Rashid Early Times Report SRINAGAR, Dec 15: Relief and rehabilitation for the flood affected people across the state is all set to get derailed as the Public Service Commission (PSC) has announced the schedule for departmental examination in the Revenue department. The PSC has announced that departmental examination for Naib Tehsildar would commence from December 24 and same would continue for eight days without any break. This announcement is bound to affect the relief and rehabilitation process as the officials expected to appear in the examination are busy in finalizing details of flood affected people. Pertinently since scores of Patwaris and Girdwars are busy in the whole process of relief and rehabilitation it would be difficult for them to appear in the examination. If these officials decide to take part in the examination then it is quite natural relief and rehabilitation process would be affected to a great extent. "It is not prudent to ask the Revenue officials to appear in the examination since they are already occupied with relief related activities. They cannot do justice to their job once they are asked to appear in the examination. There was no emergency for such an examination and it could have been conducted some months later," said a group of Patwaris while sharing their views with Early Times. This group of Patwaris demanded that the examination should be deferred so that there is no confusion among their ranks. They said that it would be difficult for them to take part in the examination for varied reasons. They lamented that PSC authorities issued the date sheet in a hush hush manner without any planning whatsoever. "We have not been able to concentrate on our studies for this departmental examination. Even if it is a promotional examination still then we need to study so that there is some benefit at the end of the day. However, this aspect has been neglected by the Public Service Commission authorities. They seem to be in a hurry to dispose of this liability," said the Patwaris. These Revenue officials said that since they are busy with the assessment of flood damages it would not be possible for them to appear in the examination. They said that PSC authorities should have kept this thing in mind before issuing the date sheet for the departmental examination. "The priority this time around should be proper rehabilitation of flood affected people and not conducted the departmental examination. Let the relief and rehabilitation process be completed first and then we can think of appearing in the departmental examination. Better sense should prevail upon and the examination should be rescheduled," said the Patwaris. |
