PDP likely to seek Cong support for Govt formation
12/16/2014 12:15:20 AM

Early Times Report
Jammu, Dec 15: The PDP is most likely to take support of the Congress if need rises. The party may not like to go with the BJP as it could damage it politically in Kashmir, though the party has planned to have cordial relations with the BJP led Central government.
A hint was dropped about the possible coalition government by PCC president Saif-ud-Din Soz that Congress could be determining factor in the secular coalition government.
The PDP is though hopeful of forming the government on its own. It has till now had a good run in the first four phases. But according to reports the Congress may not perform as badly as has been predicted. It has off late got onto the tracks and has also performed better in Kashmir and is expected to fare well in the next phase.
The Congress has dropped enough possible hints of joining the PDP as it has been highly critical of the National Conference and has been consistently attacking the Omar Abdullah.
"It's not for just criticising that Cong is attacking NC and Omar. It has never attacked Mufti and there is message in that," said a senior PDP leader, wishing not to be named.
The PDP has though been attacking both NC and Congress as it feels that it can form the government on its own. It has plan for it. Though there is a feeling that if the party falls just short of the magic number it would then need the numbers and Congress could be a 'natural' partner.
"However, this time the coalition is likely to be different. The PDP will have enough number to feel comfortable as many more would be jumping off to join us. It is likely to be like BJP led central government which has number of its own but still carries other parties along. Here, though too the only difference could be that PDP would be the largest party with small parties gravitating around it and it gives the party to carry out and implement its own agenda fully," said the leader.
