Three-tier security in Jammu, Kathua for PM's today’s rallies

Jammu , Dec 15: Three-tier security arrangements have been made for the Prime Minister Narendra Modi's tomorrow's election rallies scheduled to be held at Maulana Azad Stadium here and in remote Billawar tehsil of Kathua districts. The Prime Minister will address the election rallies for the fifth and last phase of Assembly elections to be held on December 20 in 20 Assembly segments of Jammu, Kathua and Rajouri districts. "Adequate arrangements have been made for tomorrow's rally of the Prime Minister with heavy deployment of troops including the state police contingents and the para-military forces," a senior police official here said. He said that the venue has been put under siege while the barbwires have also been raised around the venue, adding, "the road adjacent to the venue will be sealed in the evening and the vehicles will be diverted to alternate routes." He further said, special pickets have been installed along the banks of River Tawi, which is close to the M A Stadium to keep check on any "unwanted movement". "Men in uniform have also been deployed in the localities surrounding the Stadium while vigil is also being maintained on every movement around by the special squads besides men in civvies," he added. He further said the traffic authorities have also issued advisories to the people for tomorrow's routes while the traffic has been diverted to alternate routes as precautionary measure. Meanwhile security has also been beefed up in Kathua district for the PM's rally. "The Prime Minister will address a public rally tomorrow afternoon in Billawar tehsil and the security grid has been enhanced in the area," Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Deputy Commissioner, Kathua here said. Dr Choudhary said that the frisking process has started in the diameter of around one-kilometre from the venue and the people have to reach the venue on foot as no vehicle except of VVIPs will be allowed to reach the venue. "Buses and other commercial vehicles coming from Bani, Basholi and other areas, will have to follow the routes advised to the transporters," the DC said, adding that tight security arrangements have also been made along the Jammu-Kathua-Pathankot highway to avoid any untoward incident.
