Over 30000 children immunized with Polio vaccine

Kishtwar, Jan 18: As part of National campaign against eradication of polio, Kishtwar health department today immunized over 30000 childrens aging between 0-5 years with polio vaccination on 368 Plus polio booths setup by the department across Kishtwar District. Additional Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Hanief Malik along with Chief Medical Officer Kishtwar Dr. Sham Prasad Gupta and Medical Superintendent District Hospital Kishtwar launch the day long campaign by giving two drops of polio to various childrens arrived at the polio booth setup inside District Hospital Kishtwar.
CMO Kishtwar apprised the ADC Kishtwar about the comprehensive strategy and joint action plan put in place for today's first round of Intensified Pulse Polio immunization Programme scheduled from today and will come to an on 20th of January 2015.
He informed that the estimated population of the children below five years in all the health blocks of Kishtwar comes to be 36684 for which 368 Vaccination Booths have been established. A total number of 1572 Booth team members that include 695 Anganwari workers/voluntary workers, 207 health workers, 322 teachers and 248 ASHA workers have been assigned for successful polio immunization, and in addition 74 supervisors and six mobile teams with one supervisor has been pressed into service. A total number of 40000 Oral Polio Vaccines (OPV) doses has been made available for the first round in all the health blocks of Kishtwar, Padder, Dachhan and Chatroo.
ADC Kishtwar called upon the concern to strictly ensure that each and every child under five years gets the polio drops and special emphasis be given to far flung rural areas. He also directed the members of the Task Force comprises of Dy. CMO, Execative Engineer PDD, BMO Kishtwar, BMO Padder, BMO Chatroo, and BMO Dachhan to expidite all its resources to reach out to every child under 5 years and set the target that no child will be left without immunization at the end of the campaign.
