Kashmir Police XI, KCCC win ties

KATHUA, Jan 18: Kashmir Police XI and Kishen Chand Cricket Club (KCCC) XI won their respective matches to advance in the next round of the Vth Police Martyr Memorial North Zone Inter-Club Twenty20 Cricket Tournament, organised by the J&K Police in collaboration with Shaheed Welfare Committee at Sports Stadium, here today.
In the first match of the day, Kashmir Police XI defeated Malik Cricket Club Delhi by five runs. Batting first, Kashmir Police set a target of 137 runs for eight wickets, which, in reply, Malik Club could not chase and bowled out for 131 runs.
Top state cricketer and allrounder, Abid Nabi played fine innings hitting first half century of the tournament. He made 42-ball 50 runs. Hanan Mir contributed 33 runs. From Malik Club, Parveen and Guru Sevak were most successful bowlers with three wickets each.
In reply, Malik Club lost all their wickets for 131 runs. Tanvir and Shivam were top scorers with 21 runs each while Parveen added 19 runs. Asif bowled well taking away three wickets while Ishtiaq took two.
For his half century, Abid Nabi named man of the match to be presented with Rs 1000 cash prize by special guest, Ravi Shanker Raina.
Meanwhile, in other match of the day, KCCC registered a fine four wickets win against Kokernag Sports Club.
Earlier, batting first, Kokernag Club made 95 runs for seven wickets. Bilal and Ravi were main scorers with 26 and 16 runs respectively. Raman Dutta emerged as most successful bowler with four wickets for 13 runs in four overs. Sahil took two.
Later, KCCC chased the total making 96 runs losing six wickets in 18.2 overs. Vicky Sehwag (Bishnah) was top scorer with 38 runs including five fours and a six. Sameer Khajuria contributed unbeaten 18 runs. Yasir bagged two wickets from Kokernag Club while Irshad took two. Vicky Sehwag named man of the match and given away the cash prize and trophy by treasurer of Shaheed Welfare Committee, Sanjay Pathak.
