Cong leaders deny purported meet, term report as false, baseless | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 18 : Taking a strong exception of a news report circulated in section of media pertaining to a purported meeting to be organized by the loyalists of Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Rajya Sabha and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad, against sitting PCC president, Saif-Ud-Din Soz, several Congress leaders have termed the report as baseless and a conspiracy by some vested interests to create confusion. In a joint statement issued by PCC vice-president and ex-MP, Janak Raj Gupta, PCC general secretary and former Chairman, J&K, Legislative Council, Arvinder Singh Micky, former Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand, former Minister and sitting MLC, Jugal Kishore Sharma and former Minister, Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, MLC Naresh Gupta, MLC Janhagir Mir, MLC Gialchan Narboo, Former MLC Subash Gupta, PCC secretary Naresh Sharma and Jagdish Kotwal some of whose names figured in baseless report, today clarified that "there was no such meeting proposed or organized by them." "Neither we are aware of any purported meeting nor we are invitees or have any link in organizing the same," the senior Congress leaders cleared and further added that "There are certain vested interests that are hell bent upon creating confusion among the party workers and common masses by planting such reports in section of media. We condemn such reports and warn all those to desist from their nefarious designs." Asserting that the party stands united, the Congress leaders further maintained that, " Ghulam Nabi Azad is party's national leader and he has much bigger responsibilities to serve the nation and a post of PCC president is just a small thing for such a versatile personality. There are some vested elements that are hell bent to give wrong impression that Congress party is a divided house, where as the fact remains that Congress is united and its leaders and workers are committed to abide by the decisions of party high command. There can be difference of opinion on some issues and it is also a natural fact that it is everywhere and Congress is not a sole party. But to spread misinformation campaign against the party and party stalwarts is unwarranted and uncalled for." "There has been no such proposed meeting. Instead entire Congress leadership is united to strengthen the party at grass root level to counter divisive forces," they stated. |
