Jammu, Mar 17: The PDP-BJP Government has plans of scrapping the Sheri Kashmir employment and welfare scheme that was put into force by the previous NC-Congress coalition Government from 2013,on the plea that the scheme had not achieved any desired results. The PDP-BJP Government is keen to frame a new employment policy which could resolve the problem of unemployment as over six lakh educated youth have been registered by employment exchanges in the state. Reports said that the objective of the sheri Kashmir employment and welfare plan was to provide credit facility to the young start-up entrepreneurs in an easy and expedious manner Purpose Assistance under the scheme will be available for any commercially viable and technically feasible ventures relating to the core areas of State economy which inter-alia include: Agriculture and its allied sectors viz: horticulture, floriculture,,poultry rearing, sheep/dairy farming, pisciculture, beekeeping, cultivation of medicinal and aromatic plants, etc. IT related ventures. Tourism,. Food Technology., Establishment of facilities for storage of food products/horticulture products; particularly cold chains. A Government assessment has indicated that the scheme had not found any major response from the educated unemployed youth as they were not ready to set up units in various sector.Majority of the unemployed youth in Jammu and Kashmir favour jobs in the state or central Government departments. It is in this connection Chief Minister,Mufti Mohd. Sayeed,and senior BJP leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh, and Dr Jitendra Singh MOS in the centre plan to take up the problem of unemployment with the Prime Minister and other senior ministers so that a way was found for keeping posts in various cerntral Government offices and Armed forces and paramilitary forces reserved for educated youth from Jammu and Kashmir. Another plan of the BJP-PDP Government is to attract investment in the sectors of industry and agriculture by big houses in the country and by the central Government so that job avenues in the state could be expanded. Official sources said that as far as the previous Government's policy on making available loan to new entrepreneurs would be retained. |
