Early Times Report

Jammu, Mar 17: Despite the state BJP coming in support of Arrogant minister for health and medical education Lal Singh and Principal GMC Jammu trying to coerce doctors into submission, the RDA GMC Jammu and Associated hospitals has decided to carry on the agitation against the Minister by taking out protest marches on alternate days till higher administration awakes from deep slumber.
"We don't want to put the general public to hardships by going to strikes so we will hold the protest marches only after normal working hours. After 4 PM, all emergencies and routine wards will be manned by Residents as usual" said Dr Neeraj Sharma President RDA GMC and Associated hospitals.
"RDA wants to bring to the notice of the general public and higher administration in particular that the false promises of security arrangements in GMC and Associated Hospitals have been exposed as instead of providing police personnel for security of Hospitals the Principal GMC Jammu at the behest of the Minister has floated tenders for security to extend the contract of existing security agency, which is owned by Dr Uttam Singh, Medical Officer Stores GMCH Jammu, who is known to be very close to politicians " said Dr Zaheer Khan RDA executive member.
"Instead of providing basic amenities to the patients in hospitals he is distracting the attention of general public by sticking to his obsession for Aprons. Hospitals need Staff, Security, Ventilators, Medicines, Monitors and a Good human and Civilized behavior by the Minister" said Dr Neeraj Sharma, adding that If the Minister is sincere in his approach he should immediately relieve all overstaying doctors from GMC Jammu and associated hospitals.
"We also want to clarify that white apron is the identity of doctors and no other professional group can misuse it. We will not wear aprons as a mark of protest only till all our demands viz security, proper dress code, and other issues which were promised by the higher administration on March 4, 2015 were met" said Dr Neeraj Sharma.
Ruing the circular issued by the Principal GMC, Doctors said, "yesterday a dubious circular was issued by the Principal which directly infringes upon our basic fundamental right of freedom of expression through peaceful means without stopping work and the RDA has unanimously decided to challenge the recent circular of the Principal in court of law and bring the high headedness of the principal to Justice " said Dr Neeraj Sharma. RDA also expressed its gratitude to various organizations and individuals who extended their support to the cause of the doctors. "In view of the inhuman and uncalled for torture of senior faculty and all colleagues at the hands of Minister we again appeal to the PM of India, Governor and CM J& K to change the ill arrogant minister before en mass resignations of the Doctors are submitted and the public is made to suffer" said Dr Sujeet Bhatt, executive member of RDA.
