Jammu, Mar 17: Indian Agriculture Research Institute (IARI) New Delhi organized 3 days' Kissan Mela titled "Indian Agricultural Research Institute Technologies for Inclusive Growth" from March 10-12, 2015 to showcase the technological advancement in the fields of agriculture and allied sectors. According to press release, Kissan Mela was inaugurated by secretary, department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India. The stall put-up by Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-J) was adjusted as "Uttam Stall" among all the State Agricultural Universities participating in the Mela. The award was presented by Sanjeev Balyan, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Cooperation, Government of India. The advancements made in agriculture sciences namely improved crop varieties, supporting management practices and other related technologies were displayed at the Mela. The various State Agricultural Universities (SAUs) of the country, Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR) Institutes and premier private industries exhibited their technologies in the exhibition. More than 50,000 farmers participated in the Mela and interacted with the scientific staff from SAUs and ICAR institutes. |
