Jammu, Mar 17: On the instructions of Secretary to Govt Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) cum Controller Legal Metrology Satish Nehru, two enforcement teams of the officers of the Legal Metrology Department (LMD) conducted extensive checking of various business establishments and booked seven for violation of consumers act norms According to official spokesperson, the LMD sleuths inspected 27 business establishments in city, Bantalab, Bakshi Nagar, B C Road, Amphalla and Janipur and of which 07 found to be violating the consumer laws and booked them under the relevant provisions of law. "2 poultry dealers, one Meat seller, one sweet seller , two vegetable and fruit sellers were among 7 booked for using defective weighing scales, non production of certificates and for not marking mandatory declarations like MRP, PKD, net weight for the information of consumers, spokesperson said, adding, "while three traders were fined in the spot for a sum of Rs 2200 & notices were served to remaining four traders to showcase why the legal proceedings under the Act may not be initiated against them in appropriate court of Law. |
