| Congress Kissaan Morcha holds protest rally, highlights demands | | |  Vijaypur, Mar 25: Congress Kisaan Morcha under the leadership of S Manjit Singh ex-minister/MLA organized a protest rally which started from canal head Vijaypur to office of Sub District Magistrate, Vijaypur. In the rally farmers of villages Barota, Kajyal Khurd, Chak Parthyal, Chajwal, Kamore, Kamore Camp, Rangoor, Nanga, Lagwal of border area of Ramgarh Sector Tehsil Ramgarh and Distt. Samba participated and on behalf of farmers the leader of rally S Manjit Singh submitted memorandum to the Chief Minister, J&K through Sub Divisional Magistrate, Vijaypur. Congress leader highlighted various demands including heavy rain fall during 2013 and Sept 20014 in Jammu region and due to the heavy rain fall which washed away embankments/ bundh of Devak River resulting heavy loss to people living in catchment areas including agriculture land. "The then NC led coalition government has announced to provide relief to the victim and the survey too was conducted but the same survey remained in papers, Singh said. "The floods of both the rivers i.e. Devak and Basanter have damaged the whole agriculture land and standing crops, he said.He said that govt even has announced to provide the free ration to the victim and also provide the genuine financial assistance for de-silting the land in order to make the same cultivatable but till date nothing has been done in this regard. Locals also have demanded state govt to de-silt the agriculture land at the government expenses as previous government has done de-silting in Srinagar City in post flood scenario and also demanded free ration to the affected people till the land is made cultivatable.
Among others who addressed the protest rally were Babal Gupta, Shiv Sharma, Surinder Sharma, Satish Dutta were also present in the rally. |
