Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 25: While videos of mass copying in Board examination in Bihar shocked the entire nation, the fact of the matter is that copying in Jammu and Kashmir is allowed to the wards of the affluent or against pecuniary consideration in a well organized manner by none other than the J&K BOSE itself and case of foster son of a former Education Minister is a case in point in this regard.
Sources divulged to Early Times that while the newly appointed minister for education was presiding over 'No Copying Week' functions, the officials in JKBOSE were busy in orchestrating organized copying in the ongoing Board examination across the Jammu region.
ET has learnt that in brazen violation of the statutes, officials who have their close relatives appearing in examination in particular centres have been deputed as invigilation staff. A source in the BOSE disclosed that a close relative of the superintendent of examination centre No. 2411 is a candidate in the same centre, against the BOSE rules that restrains officials from performing invigilation duties as supervisory staff where their relatives are taking exams in same centers. "This a clear case of organized cheating where a responsible official got himself deputed in the same center in an obvious bid to help his relative" the source lamented.
In another brazen departure from the rule that ReTs are not to be deputed as invigilators, the BOSE has not only deputed ReTs, but designated them as deputy superintendents in certain centres. "These ReTs are then used to implement the dictates of the higher officials to benefit certain blue eyed candidates" informed the source further. According to reports available with ET, at center no 2407 situated at Govt. Hr.Sec.SChool,Narrari Bala (Akhnoor) about just 6 kms from BOSE office in Akhnoor , an ReT has been appointed as Dy.Supdtt. in ongoing 10th class exams, in an apparent bid to extend undue favours to select candidates.
Besides conspiring to make such organizational arrangements to facilitate cheating, the education department has failed to act against the officials who were accused of being accomplices in the menace.
Principal of a government school in Akhnoor, identified as Govind Ram Sharma was accused of smuggling out the answer sheets of a girl student, reported to be the daughter of an influential businessman of the area to facilitate cheating. After the incident was reported by an honest lecturer, a Complaint was lodged with Crime Branch vide no. CBJ/Clt/14/236/9226 dated 28-05-2014. The CB sought a report from the Director School education vide letter no:CHQ/Clt/J-403/14-8736 on 09-08-2014; following which a committee of two principals was deputed to investigate the matter and file a report; though the inquiry was completed on, 13 Nov,2014 no report till date has been submitted to the Director. "While the accused continues to be head of the institution, the whistle blowers in the case are being subjected to a vilification campaign by the cheating mafia" a source divulged.
