Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 25: After a strong media campaign and resentment throughout the country Jammu and Kashmir Police woke up from deep slumber on Wednesday two days after the chairperson of the radical women separatist outfit Dukhtaran-e-Millat Aasiya Andrabi hoisted Pakistan flag in Srinagar.
Sources told Early Times police registered a FIR No. 14 against Aasiya at Police Station Nowhata. "After filing the FIR Aasiya was summoned to Police Station buut was left within a few minutes after her arrest," they added.
Pertinently, Asiya had hoisted a Pakistan flag in Srinagar on Monday to commemorate the Pakistan Day. She had organized a seminar in the old city to express solidarity with Pakistan and appease her bosses sitting across the Line of Control (LoC).
Soon after she was released by the Police she said that she had not committed any crime by hoisting the Pak flag. "We have been hoisting the Pak flag from past 35 years in India in Pakistan embassy in New Delhi. This time we have hoisted it on our own soil in Kashmir," she told reporters.
She said , "Jammu and Kashmir is my own land and not a part of India" and claimed that she has not committed any crime by hoisting Pakistani flag in Kashmir.
Andrabi accused TV channels of making mountain out a mole hill and conveying wrong message among to common masses across India. "These news channels raised the issue of hoisting Pakistani flag out of proportion and added that all these channels compelled Police to book her. Instead of showing the news these Indian channels are acting as judges and are directing the Indian police and authorities, what to do and what not to do," she said and added that she would continue to hoist the Pakistani flag on Kashmir soil and would not abandon the practice under pressure either from Indian media or authorities.
Aasiya was the only separatist leader who did not rush to Delhi to attend the Pakistan day celebrations and preferred to stay in Kashmir. After hoisting the Pakistan flag she claimed that Pakistan High Commissioner had telephoned her and invited to her to attend the Pakistan Day celebrations, but she boasted that she made him understand that she would celebrate the day in Kashmir and make people aware about its importance.
An analyst while talking to Early Times said that if she loves Pakistan so much she should go there and celebrate the day there.
" In Jammu and Kashmir there is no place for the people who are for Pakistan and promote secessionism," he added.
The analyst expressed dismay over separatists being allowed to challenge India's sovereignty and radical elements being provided a chance to exploit the situation and plead the cause of such a country which has been promoting violence and bloodshed in JK for the past 25 years. "These people are on payroll of ISI and by indulging in such acts they prove their loyalty," the analyst added.
