Under life threat: Border residents seek more security along IB

Kathua, Mar 25: Demanding more strength of security forces, the residents' hailing across the International border today staged huge protest demonstration at Haria Chack, Zero line along International border and blocked Kot Punnu-Chadwal Link road for six hours.
Irked to ignorant attitude of state government, People staged protest demonstration under the leadership of Ashok Sharma, a prominent citizen and alleged on local administration for not asking their grievances after the recent terror attack on Rajbagh Police station Kathua.
The protesters said ceasefire violation, infiltration and lack of barricades bring sufferings for villagers who are glum to the frequent terror attack in Samba and Kathua sector. The fresh attack triggers rage among people who desire voluntarily to come ahead in the service of the country. They sought Gun licenses so they can co-operate with security forces.
The protesters raised several demands including more security, new barricades on National Highway and border roads and Gun Licenses for villagers. While addressing to protesters, Ashok said shortage of security forces near border areas bring frequent infiltration that causes terror attacks in Samba and Kathua sector. He said lack of barricades on National highway and links roads enhance infiltration that should be control with immediate effect. He said that participation of local youths is requisite to control such infiltration.
Sanjay Uppal, Block president Shiv Sena, also has same views and demanded special recruitment of Youths in Village Defence Committee, VDC to protect their villages from infiltrators. He sought special identity in Army uniform so nobody can co-operate with infiltrators in Army attire.Kuljeet Singh, Dy SP Hiranagar, rushed on the spot and pacified the protesters. He ensured serious steps to enhance security in the villages. Dy SP said their demands are already in consideration but could not publicize due to security purposes. DDC Kathua suggested (through Dy SP) to formulate a village committee that must discuss their problems directly to local administration for instantaneous redress. The committee members must be from Ex-Army service men, retired employees, Youths and rural bodies.
